Summer in Illinois is filled with fun things to do. County fairs are local favorites but I've never been to one (well, not yet). You could always find something to do anytime and anywhere..even if you're not staying in the breezy city of Chicago. But over the weekend, we decided to drive the extra mile just to watch cirque du soleil. My mom and sister told me that cirque was also on tour last year but they presented a different show. I was never a big fan of circus. I guess the only time that I've been to one was way back when i was a child. If memory serves me best, the London Circus had a show in Davao City (correct me please if i'm wrong) which featured different animals, stunts and clowns. I've heard about Cirque from my mom. She always tells me how amazing the shows were and they're a must-see. You see, my mom is (kind of) hard to please so hearing it from her convinced me to watch it..err.. as long as she pays..hehe.
The first cirque du soleil show i've seen was La Nouba at Orlando Florida. I was totally blown away by the whole performance and i instantly fell in love with it. So when we heard that they are on tour and they're having a different show in Chicago, we were all excited and told ourselves that we should find time (from work) to see Kooza. I don't mind driving through heavy traffic for at least two hours. It was my first time driving to the city so i really had no idea what to do if ever we get lost. Luckily, we arrived there in one piece and my heart was racing when i saw the special tent they had to put up just for the show.
Kooza is part circus and part theater. They have a live band and singers playing their music that gets through your vibe. Their set was crazy. Everything was moving and the show was inspired by Hindu and African cultures and the artist Gustav Klimt. My jaws literally dropped because everything was meticulously designed (from the lights, costumes, props, makeup..etc) and the acrobatic stunts were flawless and precisely executed .
No cameras, video cams, cellphones were allowed inside so i didn't really had the chance to take pictures of the performance.. sorry guys. instead we bought the souvenir program and here are some pictures to share.

Cirque du Soleil never fails to take my breath away and move me to tears. Kooza got a well-deserved standing ovation from the audience. I highly recommend this show and i assure you it will be worth every penny. =)

one thing that surprises me today is the fact that i came in early to work this morning. i usually punch in at 7:07 or later than that. waking up early is my least favorite and driving to work sucks. i am just glad that the day is finally over. it is always comforting to go home to a nice home-made supper after a hard day's work. my mom happens to cook some food that would pretty much feed her starving kids for the next few days. (thanks ma..)
i tend to eat a lot when i work a lot and i am not a great fan of exercising, so in a few years now, expect the extra weight i would be putting on.
after dinner, we got bored. mom and i decided to try out the new dance pad for dance revo (ps2). i taught her how to use the pad and the next thing i know, she is already hogging the entire game.
i got to try my new pens i ordered online. they're called popcorn pens by dong-a. i really love the puffy effect the ink makes after you use a hairdryer to dry it.
i got carried away that i did not realize that i was overusing the hairdryer. the next thing i know, i saw a spark and the hairdryer ( which by the way, belongs to my mom) went off.. forever.
oops..
looks like i have tons of explaining to do in the morning.

This happens rarely, but today my sister, my mom and me got the chance to spend quality time together. My sister would always insists to stop by Mitsuwa whenever we have the chance to visit Schaumburg and so we did. We pigged out on some japanese cuisine at a very reasonable price then we did some grocery shopping and ended up buying more than what we're suppose to get.
After that, we went malling at Woodfield Mall. My mom decided to go shopping by herself, so me and my sister went together. The mall itself is a big fancy place but we've got way better shopping malls back in the Philippines. Plus, the stuffs they sell at Woodfield are somewhat expensive so we ended up almost buying nothing. Boo!
I feel really exhausted of walking all day but it was worth it because me and my sister were able to find a candy shop that sells sour belts. I bought more than a pound so this will surely last me for how many days. =) I am really very thankful that I was able to share this day with my mom and my sister.
Tomorrow is another working day so it's time to dose off.
