Having Monday off..

keep left

is rathery unusual. So i decided to get out of the house and breathe some fresh air. I was suppose to spend the day studying at the library but instead I am doing laundry at this local laundry shop.

I am, by the way, famished and Wendy's is looking delicious on the other side of the road. I might as well grab some burger and fries on the way home.

Tomorrow, I am back to work and it will be a long week. I'm working on memorial weekend and it sucks. Not that I'm going to some party or what but a day off would be much appreciated. Big test is coming and I better make sure I do not get sick and stressed.

An uber cheesy burger might help. Hehe..

thousand sweet kisses
First week of November and it is already snowing. I am off my job but going outside would probably not be a good idea especially when we haven't started unpacking our winter jackets. I stayed in most of the day and try to go over my hard disk. I found a couple of personal photographs I can send as postcards so I will be mailing them in this Monday.

Here are some of the things that happened some few weeks back.

* My good friend asked me to go to a wake of someone dear to him. It's my first time to go to a wake here in America and my mom says that it is sort of formal. I was not really prepared for the whole thing because I was working in between days and could hardly find the time to go buy clothes to wear. I decided to do everything last minute. I've got the flowers, the pictures and the outfit but I was not expecting how far the place was. It was quite a drive, it was cold and I am starting to feel sick. When I got there, the placewas packed with relative and friends and I was clueless. I have no idea what was going on and I do not know anybody. After giving my sincerest condolences to the wife of the deceased, I've decided to leave thinking that the whole ceremony was over. Even if I do not know the person who passed away, he seems like a nice person and judging from the people who were there, i can tell that he is a good man and may he rest in peace.

* I was looking forward to celebrating Halloween this year and the scariest thought dawned to me when my manager put me on schedule. I had to work the whole day shift. Of course I got tired after so I stayed home and waited for kids to come by and get their treats. Since we were not into putting costumes and make-ups, my mom decided to get ridiculous outfits for the dogs which worked out perfectly cute. Our dogs changed their costumes twice or thrice for the whole night and the kids adored them. We can't stop showing off our little dogs but I guess Pepe scared them away whenever he gives a loud bark every time the doorbell rings. I should say my favorite costume for that night would be the kid joker. I never had the chance to take his picture but he cracked me up. He's got the whole purple outfit and that creepy smile across his face. Kids here are really imaginative and artistic. I wish I turn into a child every Halloween so I could go put on a costume and ask for candies.

* Some time this week I got a postcard from my friend Shari, who now lives in Christchurch, New Zealand. I was surprised and touched by her message. I miss my friends already. I can't believe we are now living our lives and some of us are in other parts of the world. I used to think about the days we were still in high school or college. Those were the easy days and my favorite. Receiving mails from my friends never fail to draw a smile on my face. Thanks Sha! I hope things will get better.

* Last Sunday, my beautiful sister and I went to Mitsuwa (the jap place). We were going to the Sweet's fair she was telling me about. I ended up buying two pens, one notebook, a set of stationery and none of the pastries sold in the fair. I tried to order the Beef Soba for lunch and it quenched my thirst more than my hunger. There was too much broth for me to handle in one meal that I barely touched my pork siomai.boo..I'm thinking of ordering the katsudon next time.

* Today, I got another mail. You just warmed up my first Friday snow..my heart too (in every second it beats..).

This happens rarely, but today my sister, my mom and me got the chance to spend quality time together. My sister would always insists to stop by Mitsuwa whenever we have the chance to visit Schaumburg and so we did. We pigged out on some japanese cuisine at a very reasonable price then we did some grocery shopping and ended up buying more than what we're suppose to get.

the three hungry marias

feasting on some sushi and katsudon. YUM!

After  that, we went malling at Woodfield Mall. My mom decided to go shopping by herself, so me and my sister went together. The mall itself is a big fancy place but we've got way better shopping malls back in the Philippines. Plus, the stuffs they sell at Woodfield are somewhat expensive so we ended up almost buying nothing. Boo!

I feel really exhausted of walking all day but it was worth it because me and my sister were able to find a candy shop that sells sour belts. I bought more than a pound so this will surely last me for how many days. =) I am really very thankful that I was able to share this day with my mom and my sister.

Tomorrow is another working day so it's time to dose off.

why o why
Winter seems forever. This is not how i imagined my first snow experience would be. It is too much for me and it gets harder to do things and move around. Last Tuesday, it was disaster. I ditched the car and a policeman came by to check me and the car out. The car was stuck pretty bad so the police had to call a tow truck to pull out my car. Of course, nothing in this world comes for free, so i had to pay 50 bucks for that. Good thing the policeman didn't give me any ticket but my feet and hands were freezing. Boohoo. =(

Wednesday came. That was the day of my final interview with United Airlines. My appointment was 8:30 in the morning. I drove myself to their office and thought that I had everything in control. I never imagined that traffic was that bad. Some roads were closed because of accidents. I got there 8:45, I was late so they had to put me on the next schedule. I was hesitant about the job when I heard the recruiter say something about moving to where you will be assigned. In my head, I was not ready to move out of my mom's house.

Today, I got an email from United saying that I am not what they're looking for. It's not such a big deal because I was expecting it anyway and the job is too much for me to handle. This means that I'll have to focus again on becoming a nurse. I have a lot of studying to do. Good luck na lang.

Today is my day-off. I woke up late and ate candy the whole afternoon. I'm thinking where I could get more of those sour belts coz' I just love them. They are my new favorites plus they're not that expensive. You could get these stuffs in pounds. Sour candies are comforting and I have to get more. yum!

I got the chance to see some dvd's that we borrowed last week then I bummed around some more. I'm thinking of buying my own copy of the movie 'Across the Universe' so I could play it over and over again. I just love this movie and I love the Beatles. Too bad, I was not able to watch the movie with commentaries, it would have been great. But then again, I'll have to wait til' i get my own. So work work work!
